Perspectives on Healing

You Can Heal Your Life  One of the most life-changing books I ever read was Louise Hay’s You Can Heal Your Life. That one book opened up a whole world of possibility – the possibility that you could actually heal your own illnesses. Since then, the field of body-mind medicine has expanded significantly. Now, the book that lives on my bedside table, ready to be consulted when signs of illness threaten, is Your Body Speaks Your Mind by Deb Shapiro.Your body speaks your mind Giving much more detail to the pictures provided by Louise Hay, this book opens the doorway to contemplating the ‘language of your symptoms’. The author reveals how unresolved emotional and psychological issues can affect your physical health, how your thoughts and feelings are linked to specific parts of the body, and how to heal. This book has a place on every bedside table! Your Body Speaks Your Mind $40.00 You Can Heal Your Life $29.95

Plant Spirit MedicinePlant Spirit Medicine by Eliot Cowan is an intriguing combination of shamanic healing and the medical philosophies of China, Tibet, India and West Africa. I really enjoyed this book, which partly details the author’s journey into acquiring this knowledge. The part I found most illuminating was its exploration of the five Chinese elements: Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, Wood. Each of these chapters concludes with a list of questions that helps you to find the spirit of these elements in your life and your relationship with them. Quite fascinating! Our Twelve SensesOur Twelve Senses by Albert Soesman is a highly readable guide to extending our understanding of the human senses well beyond the usual five. These are the senses of touch, life, self-movement, balance, smell, taste, vision, temperature, hearing, language, the conceptual and the ego senses. The author not only describes the activity of these twelve senses, he also demonstrates how they are involved in aspects of experience not previously ascribed to senses. Importantly, he describes the deeper qualities that each sense brings into being and thus we learn how the senses are the very foundation for the virtues of the soul. This book opens the door to many of the mysteries of human development. Our Twelve Senses $29.95
